Euro Juniors

Just got back from Munich where I watched Sj win the Euro Junior Crown, so I'm chuffed for her and really pleased I went. You cna read more about the squash on her blog.

A couple of things that were worthy of note. The tournament seemed very efficiently run, everyone knowing there jobs and timings etc. I was surprised to find that there was an entry fee to the club for all days including the prelim rounds. This seems a bit out of place in a junior, non-pro event. On top of this players weren't allowed to video their matches, and no one was allowed to take any pictures!! A bit over the top.

Another thing that frustrated me was the abundance of ridiculously cheap strokes. The sooner the governing bodies do something about this the better. I guess 25% of all points were won with a stroke decision, and to be honest about 80% of these were playable. It seems that whilst this problem is everywhere, it was more prevalent here. It just makes sqush so unwatchable. Please please stop this.
