Here’s a different way to do boast and drive with 3 people on a court.
2 players boast and drive as usual, with the third standing on the door.
At the end of the rally the player who has made a mistake or lost the rally goes to the door, and the player that has just rested comes in to drive.
The advantage of this way of doing it is that the players are working with more intensity. It’s also easier to put options in for either player at a later stage to progress your session.
The disadvantage is that you’ve always got one person standing out, who is not working.
It’s important to be very aware of the safety aspect here. If the drives are tight, then the person standing out is fine. If the drive becomes loose it may be necessary for the person on the door to “slide” away from the ball and the swing of the boaster. With this in mind, it is not advisable to do this with young children, inexperienced players or players without enough control to keep the ball close to the wall.
This sliding door technique can be used to do many 2 player drills with 3 players on court in the way described above.
