There are common patterns of play in squash to be looking out for...One of which is the cross court return of serve from the forehand.
If you are clever, and you are looking for this return, it can be cut off and taken in short, BUT you have to be looking out for it to take full advantage.
Notice Nicol's positioning on the T looking for the shot, allowing her to get in position for the volley drop easily. She's forward, orientated to the front wall and over towards the backhand side.
In this example Shelley is not ready for the xc return and misses the first opportunity in the rally to attack.
So remember, after a good serve to your opponent's forehand look to anticipate and punish a poor cross court return.
