Here is a variation for you in the front backhand corner and it's called the Aussie Cross-court.

It’s a really unusual shot as we are not aiming for a corner, but it relies on our opponent believing you are.

When we set up for it, we are going to tell our opponent I’m not hitting straight. If I can get into this position here, it is really difficult for me to hit straight now, and my opponent is going to think I’m going to hit cross court. Hopefully they are going to commit themselves to cut out your cross court backhand looking to volley here.

Meanwhile you will hit the ball thorugh the space that you were occupying down the middle of the court, leaving them completely out of position.

This shot can work really well, and can get you a winner from a position where you were under quite a lot of pressure. However, it is risky, because if your opponent reads it, stays here on the backhand side you can easily give away a stroke.

You need to think carefully about when you use it. Use it as a surprise tactic because if you use it a lot they will start to know what’s coming and also you are probably not going to use it at 10-8 match ball down, but at a time when the points aren’t quite so critical.
