A common fault, believe it or not, is to end up in the back corner too early.
Once you’ve planted one or two feet in here there’s no moving it and your are rooted in position.
This is pretty risky as it is not often possible to judge exactly where the ball will be hittable, and therefore where your feet need to be.
A better idea is to get here to the side of the ball quickly, and then leave your last step in until you know exactly where best to place it.
Better than this, we can use the back wall as a guide as to when to step in, as when it hits the back wall I’ll have a good idea of where I should place my lead leg.
So, get to the side of the ball quickly to give you time, then if it’s going to come off the back wall wait for it to strike the back wall before stepping in transferring your wait from back to front and hitting the ball.
