Here is a new ball ready for play...absolutely perfect, nothing wrong with it at all.

There are two things that can go wrong with a squash ball really. One, after you play with it for a while it will go shiny. Now it will skid! It will skid off the floor, it will skid off the walls. It will make it very unpredictable. It will shoot very quickly from the surfaces and be really difficult to play with.

You don't really want to play with a ball like this. It is possible to clean it up a little bit but really it is ready for the bin. You will also find when you play with this ball that it loses it's bounce. It will become dead, and again at this point when you feel like it is not coming out of the corners as it should you should probably put it in the bin.

The final thing that can go wrong with the ball is that it can break! They usually burst on the seams, and when you can compress it like that this ball is clearly not playable.
