Here’s a tough drill working on lots of areas of your game, but specifically getting you to look to volley the drive from the front.


The sequence is boast, straight or x-ct drive then straight drive or volley. On top of the basic pattern, after your boast, you are looking to push forward and volley the next ball.

This will challenge your speed, your aerobic endurance, and of course the quality of your shots. The better your shot quality, the more time you will create for yourself! Good footwork and early preparation in the front corners will help disguise your shot, and not allow your partner to anticipate your shot easily and cut off your drive with the volley.


Whilst it is important to do this drill at pace, remember the focus is on quality and not quantity. As you may not be able to keep the quality up for long use rest periods wisely to recharge for another set of rallies!
