One great way to set up for your drop shot at the front of the court is with your butt of your racket pointing towards the ball. This position gives you a really nice open racket face and a short back swing. It also loads your wrist so for an option I can flick through and hit the ball to the back of the court. However as I have got a locked wrist here I can really control the ball into the front of the court.

It is a really a definite position... keep that wrist locked there and push through imparting a bit of cut and possibly just a little bit of inside spin too. At the end of your follow through the wrist will remain in the same position as it was at the start of the swing. For your flicks though as you approach the ball really whip your wrist through to hit your length.

Of course now your opponent can't just follow up behind you for fear of you hitting deep!
