Lay eight cones out on the court at various distances from each other.

Move up the court in a controlled fashion gently touching each cone in turn with your racket hand.

Your training partner works as you rest.

Move moderately to use the exercise in your warm up.

Move at full pace with lots of rest in between 'runs' to work on speed. Only do this when you have fully warmed up.

This exercise is excellent for developing your court movement. The irregular distance between cones will aid you judge distance from the 'ball' and make adjustment steps early.

Changing your footwork pattern at the cones (e.g. all left foot or all right foot) will allow you to become comfortable moving in different ways and playing the ball off either foot. It will also help develop your concentration under physical duress!
