Hi I am Saurav Ghosal, world no. 26, and today I'm going to try and show you how to play a forehand drop from the front of the court. Hopefully you will have some fun!

The first and most important thing about the forehand drop in the front of the court, and it makes the shot, is the movement to the ball. It is important to take your left foot up in front so that it gives you a lot more options, with the straightt drop, the crosscourt drop, the straight and crosscourt drives and the straight and crosscourt lobs.

If you have more options it is going to be harder for your opponent to read where the ball is going. So if you watch... every time I go in front the left foot is always leading (for a right hander!) and that what makes the shot!

It is also important that when you have played this shot you use both your legs to push back really quickly so that you leave less open spaces behind you. If you hit the ball and stand there there will be lots of open spaces especially from the crosscourt wide off your opponent. You are going to be struggling to get these back!

So remember when you take the ball in short to push back quickly so you can cover both the straight and the cross.

To finish it off it is extremely important that no matter where you play the drop from, make sure it is SOFT. Keep your hands loose and your body relaxed so that it is played softly, so that the ball is as close to the front wall and dies as quickly as possible.

There you have a winner and you are winning the match from there!
