Hi! My name is Fiona Geaves and I’m from Brooklyn Heights New York. Today I’m going to give you some tips on the forehand lob.

So one of the tips I’d like to show you is you actual approach to the ball. This is one of the only times you want to go forward TO the ball. If you come forward to the ball here, the ball is in front…racket face is open…wrist is very open…to give you the height on the ball. From there it is a stretch…again racket face open… and a lift up and under the shot.

The other thing you should make a serious point of is as you are actually striking the ball you need to be very balanced with your stroke…otherwise you are going to fall off the ball…you’re going to lose control of where the ball is actually going.
So as you come through and you step, you don’t want to overstretch…you want to have nice balance…that you are very strong in you stance…so that as you hit through you finish the stroke… and you are still balanced, you haven’t fallen off the stroke.

Keep points to remember:

  1. Take a direct approach to the ball
  2. Open wrist and racket face
  3. Lift up and under the ball whilst keeping a balanced stance

Happy lobbing!
