This is footage of James Willstrop before a quarter final in the National Championships. It is taken some hours before the match and the purpose of this pre-match session is just to keep his eye in, grooving his shots and getting used to the court. It's not a full blown practice session.

Previous to what you are seeing here, he's completed some more closed and scripted drills, starting with boast and drive, and going through most of his repertoire of shots. Here he's finishing on a relatively unstructured practice. His coach can hit anywhere deep, and whilst playing predominantly straight James can play any shot he wants.

It's this in last drill that he really loosens up, visualising scenarios he might face in his forthcoming match, and then playing the range of shots he knows he'll want to use. It's really useful as one of your final preparations for a match.
