What you need is good control on your drops. The way to achieve that is to use larger muscle groups that arn't going to get 'nervous' and 'twitchy'. You should be trying to keep your wrist as 'quiet' as possible. When you are striking the ball it is a push with a 'quiet' or firmer wrist rather than with a flick.

The same thing applies on the backhand side. Try and keep you wrist and your small muscles quiet and use the bigger muscles of your body, particularly your shoulder to push through the ball.
