It is a common problem for squash players to get too close to the ball in the back corners. Ideally when you have the time you should try to position yourself to the side of the ball. However in the heat of the game it is easy to panic and run at the ball itself. The problems arise when you get there...you will have a limited space reducing your range of shots, which won't be easy to play well either.
One way of rectifying this is to think about moving to the imaginary racket handle at the hitting point as you approach the back corners. It is a similar distance from your 'T' position so movement time is about the same. The great advantage as you can see is that I am now at the side of the ball and have the room to play a boast, drive, drop etc. As I have room to swing rather than flick at the ball so the quality of shot will be more consistent too.
So remember.... racket handle NOT ball!
