Here is a serve from the left hand service box. There are a number of valuable points that can be raised from just this one example which will make life easier to get to and hit the next shot with quality. Notice how I look towards the front wall before I serve. I am focusing my attention on where I need to hit the ball to make the serve difficult and put my opponent under pressure from the off. The serve is not just a rally restart!
By moving into the serve and throwing the ball out into court I am striking the ball virtually in the mid-court. This will allow me to achieve a narrower angle into the side wall leaving the ball closer to the side wall for longer. Another bit of added pressure on my poor opponent!  My back foot is still in contact with the floor in the service box so no service fault here!
Once I hit the ball I continue to move toward the T. I pivot around my front foot to get my hips square on the the front wall early just in case my opponent volleys the ball cross-court, and then side step into my final T position.
Notice this T position isn't dead centre but slightly favoured to the forehand side, the side where the ball is. This will make it easier to cover the straight shot where the ball will travel the shorter distance.
My racket is at a comfortable height facing the front wall which means it can be quickly prepared to both the forehand and backhand side depending on which side your opponent returns the ball.
These basics will help you get set for a good start in every rally. Easily practiced they will soon be come a good habit.
