A Lob serve is a really destructive serve. It is going to try to expoit what is often your opponent's biggest weakness, the backhand volley.

We need it going up really steeply, in order to get it coming down really steeply in the back corner. To do this it helps to gte as close to the front wall as possible. So get as far forward as possible with your right foot right in the front corner of the service box.

We also need to keep close to the T so a slight step in this direction will help our court position.

Throwing the ball to hip height will also aid getting a steep trajectory and the racket under the ball.

Two options how to strike the ball

  1. With a little cut. This is safer and less aggresive with a lower flight
  2. A bit "flatter" coming more underneath the ball. The is more aggressive slightly more risky, but gives extra height and steepness on the way down.
