I have already showed you how to play a straight and cross-court drop from the front of the court and if you noticed it was quite a short swing when I'm stretching to pick the ball up.
So with that short swing I am still able to generate power on the drives. For that it is important that your racket head speed is pretty quick. High racket head speed is what generates the power!
It is also about holding the ball and holding the opponent on the T and a short swing helps to do this particularly in the front of the court. When I have this short swing I have many options, to hold and hit, the straight or cross drop, straight or cross drive and use the lob as well.
It is important to understand that if you can play a number of shots with the same swing it makes it harder for your opponent to read. Put yourself in your opponents shoes and you will totally understand what I'm talking about!
