There are lots of different sorts of squash balls so which one should you use?
We'll start here...this is a Progress ball. As you can see it is blue and quite a lot bigger than the standard ball. It bounces quite a lot and actually I only use this with children.
The next one down...a Max Progress ball. It doesn't have any dots..it's black. It bounces more than a standard ball but not as much as a Progress and this is idea if you are just learning to play and you are an adult.
Once you progress from this you will go to the single yellow dot. This bounces slightly less still. It is getting slightly trickier to play with and that is why you need to progress from the Max Progress to this.
When you find that this is starting to bounce too much for you, you'll find that you are onto the double yellow dot. This is the standard ball used in leagues through out the world. It bounces the correct amount if you can hit the ball with a reasonable amount of pace and get it to the back.
You'll find that this does not bounce very much to start off with ...and it looks pretty dfficult to play with. As you play it gets warmer and bounces a lot. People who can hit the ball hard will use this one because they can get it warm and it will bounce a bit more.
