Watch how Nicol moves back to the T from the front of the court.
She resists the temptation to turn and run forwards, which would be quicker, but would leave her facing the wrong way!

She moves backwards, eyes on the ball and feet roughly facing the front wall, so she is able to move to cover the backhand side more easily and react to a cross court from Shelly.

In this instance it works perfectly, as she finds herself in position to volley the ball, which she wouldn't otherwise have done.
